Marin - "Of the sea"
Long before Marin Surf Co. was a brand, it was a feeling.
At 13 years old, I picked up a GoPro and started shooting surf photography up and down the coast of California. I didn't know it at the time, but those early mornings in the water were teaching me something that would stay with me for the rest of my life. After every session, I'd walk up the beach feeling something I couldn't quite name: excited, alive, drawn toward something bigger than the surf itself.
It wasn't just the waves. It was the culture. The community. The way surfing has this quiet ability to connect people to the ocean, and to each other, in a way that nothing else really does.
Watching Something Slip Away
As I got older, I started noticing something that bothered me.
Some of the most iconic names in surf, the brands that built this culture, the ones that once meant something, were drifting further and further from the people who made them matter in the first place. The pursuit of profit and the need to keep shareholders happy had quietly replaced any real care for the customer, for the planet, or even for the quality of the product itself.
The meaning was getting lost. And nobody seemed to be building anything to replace it.

Marin Surf Co. was born out of that frustration, and out of a belief that it could be done differently.
